In C-Kermit the way to do this is to use:
asg _inifile \v(cmdfile) ; Get directory where this file is kept...
asg _inidirlen \feval(\flength(\m(_inifile))-11)
asg _inidir \fsubstr(\m(_inifile),1,\m(_inidirlen))
Then you can reference \m(_inidir) wherever you need \v(inidir)
